Update: Activities in 2021 & July 27 AGM
Greetings from the President,
The July AGM has been moved. Meeting is now on July 27th via ZOOM at 7pm.
Please join us for the online AGM: a discussion of the upcoming events and a discussion of some of the buy swap and sell that we are unable to have face to face. Please contact the secretary for the zoom codes. (Committee meeting at 6pm.)
Also the Show entries for the 'bookbinding competition' are now open - close on August 18, so get those books ready! Books can be either dropped off at a number of committee members' houses closer to show time - let us know in advance to arrange that - or you will be able to drop them at the show according to the application form. Please contact the RASV for application details and entry forms. Good cash prizes to be had!
Book Press - Fast acting
Platen Size: Length 490 mm Width 360 mm Daylight (hight) 180mm approx.
In operation the approximate opening is set wth the hand lever in the raised position, the object to be pressed inserted, the hand lever lowered and the pressure applied with the hand wheel. Once set at a hight, for following pressings the hand lever may be used without using the hand wheel.
The press comes with several pressing boards.
The press is heavy so at the present is dismantled making is slightly easer to move but I suggest it may/will require two people to move.

Royal Show is coming in September
We will be there for at least 2 days with demonstrations and displays. We will have a special display for the Guilds 40th year: 40 Years, 40 Bookbinders, 40 Books. The display is well underway. If you are a member or past member and haven't been contacted yet please help us and give us a call. Making Marbling trays and accessories. We are planning a Saturday workshop to make trays, having access to a woodworking shop with all the right stuff. out in the eastern suburbs. I hope to have the materials prices soon. You will need to register, for now expressions of interest to the President so we can work the volume and prices of materials. We will make the tray , with relevant accessories , draining board, and combs. Materials will be cut on the large saws, then drilled, sanded, glued and nailed, ready to be taken home and given the final coats of paint. More information soon. Coming up depending on Covid, a shopping trail. Our intrepid secretary is at present lining up a travel route of all the Melbourne suppliers of everything from knife sharpening, to paint supplies, paper, cloth, leather and more.
