March Meeting: Rope Spine Binding

For our March meeting, we will explore pamphlet and single-section bindings, with a special focus on a distinctive technique developed by Jim Finger: rope spine binding. Confronted with a number of single-folded pamphlets and booklets in his collection, Jim sought a method to house and protect them while ensuring the structure remained fully reversible. Finding traditional case bindings with thin spines visually unsatisfying, he began experimenting and ultimately developing this innovative and practical binding approach.
